Consequences After Not Going To The Dentist

Getting out your wisdom teeth is not a enjoyable encounter, but in the modern times it’s normal surgical treatment that hardly ever leads to other issues. Later on, some medication and complete cleaning with mouthwash is typically more than enough to make sure to be recovered in a matter of days. When Joel Santuario had his wisdom teeth removed, he received orders from his dentist to follow a strict diet and rest for two weeks.

This may seem excessive, but in cases where the teeth are impacted and removed from under the jaw bone, the surgery is actually quite serious and should not be taken lightly. But after the surgery Joel wasn’t feeling much pain and decided to go back to work a few days later.

Joel began to eat normally and returned to work as if nothing had happened. This turned out to be a huge mistake. Two weeks later a large lump began to form on his right cheek at the exact spot where the tooth had been extracted. His relatives forced him to go back to the dentist and the diagnosis was clear: the wound from the oral surgery had become badly infected and had spread over half his face.

On August 7, Joel uploaded a video to YouTube showing the second operation he underwent to remove the infection. This one is definitely not for anyone with a weak stomach!

In the video the dentist gives Joel a good scolding for not taking his advice seriously — and he also complains about the horrible smell coming from the wound.

The young man was in severe pain which could have been so easily avoided. Joel learned his lesson the hard way and his Facebook message is a clear warning to others not to make the same mistake and to follow your dentist’s advice.

As for Joel, the scar on his cheek will be a permanent reminder of his carelessness and it’s a safe bet that he won’t be ignoring his dentist ever again!
