Our hands and fingers can reveal to us a whole lot about what’s going on with our health and wellbeing. Numerous sensations on our hands and in our fingertips can be signals of issues in other areas of the body system and are alerts that should never be overlooked. The following signs and symptoms can be triggered by particular health issues or nutritional deficiencies…
1. Vitamin deficiency
When you feel a tingling sensation in your hands, it could mean that you aren’t getting enough vitamin B1, B6, B12, and/or vitamin E. The only way to tell if you’re really suffering from a vitamin deficiency is to get a blood test. If the test is positive, your doctor can prescribe an appropriate vitamin supplement.
2. Circulation problems
Numbness in the fingertips of the right hand can be the result of a pinched nerve, but can also be a sign of cardiovascular disease.
3. Diabetes
Tingling that often starts in the feet and runs up to the hands can be a sign of diabetes. The reason is the decreased circulation that can cause damage to the nerve endings.
4. Exhaustion
If you regularly lift heavy objects or keep your wrist in an uncomfortable position, enormous pressure is exerted on the sensitive nerves near the surface of the skin. This can lead to tingling in the fingers. Make sure to give your hands a rest. It’s also important to get enough sleep and reduce your stress level.
5. Problems with the spine
Damage to the spine can cause problems with the nerve pathways resulting in symptoms that show up on our hands. Strengthening the back muscles by doing yoga or swimming can help to fix this. You should also try not to stay sitting for long periods.

6. Carpal tunnel syndrome
Many people feel a tingling sensation in their hands when they lie down and give their joints a rest. This can also lead to numbness and pain, and indicates that particular nerves in the arm are damaged and need proper medical treatment. If you have these symptoms you should see a doctor as soon as possible to avoid any permanent damage.
7. Buerger disease
If your fingers are numb and appear white or even blue, you could be suffering from Buerger disease. This condition leads to increasing inflammation of the small and medium-sized blood vessels. It is most often the result of heavy smoking and in extreme cases can require the amputation of the extremities if the sufferer can’t quit smoking.
As you can see, our hands can act as early warning centers for our bodies and we should pay close attention to the signals they send us. If you notice any of these symptoms, you should consult your doctor.
