Mostly cleaning products are made of bleach and a number of other harmful chemicals. Toxins can also be found even in the cleaning products that are labeled as ‘non-toxic’ or ‘biodegradable’. Therefore, it is very important to keep the bathroom clean without endangering our health through the exposure to so many hazardous chemicals.
The easiest way to do it is by making a less toxic cleaning alternative. That’s why we will show you how to prepare a simple cleaning product which is far less harmful but more effective than common cleaners.
You will need the following ingredients for this homemade cleaner:
– One teaspoon of liquid dish soap
– Half a cup of baking soda (it provides antimicrobial properties and acts as a natural disinfectant)
– A quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide (a substitute for bleach that will whiten and clean the stains)
DIRECTIONS:
Mix the ingredients in a small squeeze top bottle. If the stains are easy to clean, apply the mixture on a sponge and scrub the tiles and bathroom areas with it. After that, rinse the bathroom with water. In the case of “stubborn” stains, apply the cleaner on the grout and tiles and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will dissolve the dirt and the stains can be easily removed with a sponge. Rinse the bathroom with water after you have removed all the stains.
We also recommend you to use this second natural cleaner in order to prevent further build-up of dirt and stains: Mix water and vinegar in a ratio 1:1 and pour it into a spray bottle. After showering, spray the shower area with this mixture. Repeat this at least three times per week.
